With its thousand-year-old tradition as a European centre of knowledge and its expertise in research and innovation, the region has developed a leading role in the field of #BigData with the construction of the new Data Valley. It is here where 80% of Italy's computing capacity is concentrated and where a new European research hub is about to be built: the Big Data Technopole. The Big Data Technopole will house the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and Leonardo, a supercomputer capable of one billion billion operations per second.

Through DT4REGIONS and its focus on Digital Transformation, Big Data and AI, Emilia-Romagna adds another piece to its path of innovation and inclusive growth and drives the development of the territory and of new public services. By assuming the role of the project’s coordinator, it collaborates with other partner regions and organisations to bring their perspective and contribution to the development of next-generation public administration in the context of European innovation.
